Abbey Cottage Montacute

Abbey Cottage is a small house in Montacute, at the foot of Ham Hill and near Yeovil, on the border between South Somerset and Dorset. It rises over three floors: a kitchen/diner and sitting room, a first-floor twin bedroom next to the bathroom, and a second-floor family room with a double bed, a single bed and a computer desk.

The rear garden has a decked area facing the church and the fields beyond, and there is a front garden too. The garden is unfenced. One car can park off the road. Montacute House and Gardens, owned by the National Trust, is in the village, with the NT Courtyard Cafe and two pubs within walking distance; the shop and pub are 0.1 miles from the door.

The stairs are steep and narrow, storage space is limited, and there is no central heating, dishwasher or microwave. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob and a fridge/freezer, with TV and WiFi provided. Fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent. One well-behaved dog is welcome, smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

It suits a couple or a small family with one dog, who are happy on steep stairs.
