1 Old Thatch

1 Old Thatch is a 17th-century thatched cottage in the coastal village of Kilve, on the Quantock side of Somerset and close to Bicknoller. It sleeps three in two bedrooms, a double and a single, so it works for a couple with a child or a small family. The stairs are tucked behind a door, and both bedrooms have beamed, sloping ceilings.

Downstairs, the sitting room keeps its exposed stone fireplace with an old bread oven. The woodburning stove there is decorative and not for use, so heating comes from an electric convector and underfloor heating instead. The kitchen-diner has a drop-leaf table, an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge/freezer, and a utility cupboard holds the washing machine. The only bathroom is on the ground floor, with a bath and a shower over it.

Behind the cottage is an enclosed rear garden with a patio and furniture, reached through the back door. Parking is off the road for one car. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the cottage has WiFi, a TV and a DVD player. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent. Smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

The village pub is 0.4 miles away and the beach is 0.6 miles; the nearest supermarket is in Williton. Watchet and Williton are both on the West Somerset Railway line. It suits two adults with one child, or a couple with a pair of dogs who want a garden they can open the back door onto.
