Woodstock

Woodstock stands in the village of Chaffcombe, in the Blackdown Hills, not far from Chard. It is a three-bedroom house for up to six guests, infants included, with a five-bar gate opening onto off-road parking for two cars.

The ground-floor double has an adjoining walk-in shower and basin, and a second shower room with its own WC is on the same floor. Upstairs are another double and a bedroom with a single bed and a pull-out trundle. There is also a cloakroom with WC. Stairs are steep, so the house may not suit anyone with mobility problems.

The sitting room has a wood-burning stove, and fuel plus a starter pack are included in the rent along with bed linen and towels. A snug with a TV doubles as an office, and there are separate kitchen and dining rooms. The kitchen has an induction hob, electric oven, air fryer, dishwasher and washing machine, and oil central heating keeps the house warm.

A wrap-around garden has a lawn, patio seating areas and a pond, which is netted for safety. Because of the pond, young children may not be accepted: anyone bringing a young child should get in touch before booking. One well-behaved dog up to the size of a fully grown Labrador is welcome, and smoking is not allowed.

The minimum stay is three nights, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a family or a group of friends with older children who want a downstairs bedroom and a dog.
