The Granary

The Granary is a Grade 2 listed building from the late 18th century, built of Blue Lias stone and lime mortar, in the grounds of the owner's home in Edington. Edington is a rural village on the Polden Hills, near Othery.

Downstairs is an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with lofty ceilings, stone walls, glazed doors to the garden and a woodburning stove. A shower room off it has a shower, a basin and a WC. The kitchen has an electric cooker, a fridge, a freezer and a microwave, and the cottage also has a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a hairdryer, a TV with a DVD player and WiFi.

The one bedroom is on a mezzanine reached by steep, narrow stairs. It has a 6ft double bed and a single bed, and the maximum is three guests. Children aged six and under, and babies, cannot be accommodated, and the owners say the property and pool may not suit anyone with limited mobility. Night storage heating is used, and a heating supplement applies from 1 September to 31 May.

The solar-heated pool is shared with the owners and is open only in the warmer months, so confirm the dates when booking. The garden has a secluded lawn and a paved patio with a BBQ area, and parking is off the road for two cars. No pets are allowed, though the owners have a Labrador on site. A good-housekeeping bond is payable, and bike storage is secure.

It is best for a couple, or two adults with an older child, who want a pool in summer and do not mind steep stairs.
