The Cottage

The Cottage is in Holford, on the edge of the Quantock Hills National Landscape, a village near Crowcombe. The building dates back to medieval times and keeps its original beams. It is a one-bedroom cottage for two, with a kitchen/diner, a sitting room and a double bedroom whose window looks across to the thatched cottage opposite and up to the woods.

The sitting room has an electric woodburning-effect fire in a red brick fireplace. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge with an ice box, a kettle and a toaster, and a washing machine is provided. The shower room is on the ground floor, with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. WiFi and a TV are provided, heating is electric central heating, and fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included.

French windows from the kitchen open to the enclosed rear courtyard, which has furniture for eating out. Parking is on the road less than 100 yards from the cottage, and a village car park just round the corner is free of charge. Luggage can be dropped off at the cottage itself.

Pets are not accepted, and neither smoking nor vaping is allowed. A good-housekeeping bond is payable. Floors are uneven in this period building, so take care. The pub is 0.3 miles away and the shop 3 miles. It suits a couple who want a walking base with access to the hills from the combe.
