The Barn

The Barn stands beside the owner's cottage on the edge of Compton Bishop, near Cheddar. Bleadon is also nearby. It faces south, with views to the Mendips, and has off-road parking for 1 car. The layout is unusual: the front door opens from a courtyard into the kitchen, and the dining room is upstairs, reached by steep stairs, so meals have to be carried up, but the dining room looks over fields while you eat.

The sitting room has a wood burning stove and a TV with a Blu-ray and DVD player. The one bedroom is a double with an en-suite shower room. The kitchen has a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a washer-dryer and a dishwasher, and WiFi is provided. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

The courtyard has a table and chairs, and a lockable store takes bikes. Parking is for one car. One well-behaved dog is welcome, and a second can be requested. Smoking is not allowed, and electric vehicles cannot be charged at the property. The cottage does not take children, and the policy on babies should be confirmed when booking. A bond is payable.

It suits a couple, with or without a dog, who will cope with a steep staircase and want a peaceful base for cycling and walking on the Mendips.
