Crooks

Crooks is the smaller half of a pair of stone barn conversions in the village of Compton Bishop, 2.2 miles from Axbridge. Bleadon is also nearby. Its one bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, a basin and a heated towel rail, and the cottage sleeps two.

Two well-behaved dogs or cats are welcome, and a permanent wooden stair gate is provided. Dogs must not be left unattended, and cats need to be caged while guests are out. Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside, and because of the wood burner the cottage does not take children under 5. A bond is payable.

The open-plan living area is built around the woodburning stove, with a basket of logs included and electric heating as well. A dining table, a Smart TV, WiFi, books and games are provided, and the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment and a washing machine. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included.

Outside is an enclosed garden seating area with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. The courtyard next to the cottage takes up to two cars, and there is secure bicycle storage. The shop is 1.2 miles away and two dog-friendly pubs are 1.6 miles. There is no EV charging at the cottage; the nearest is 1.2 miles.

Short breaks are a minimum of three nights, with Monday or Friday arrivals. Crooks can be booked together with Wavering, the two-bedroom cottage in the same pair, for a party of five. It suits a couple with a dog who want an en-suite bedroom, a wood burner and walks and cycle rides from the doorstep.
