Small Piece

Small Piece is a thatched cottage a short walk from the centre of Porlock, with community recreation grounds at the front and a stream running alongside. It sleeps 4 in two bedrooms upstairs: a double, and a twin with an alcove that looks over the community gardens.

The only bathroom is a ground-floor shower room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The sitting and dining room has an original fireplace fitted with a gas fire, along with sash windows and exposed beams. The kitchen and utility cupboard have an electric double oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and the cottage has WiFi and a basic Sky TV package without movies or sports. Gas central heating, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent.

Outside there is a small courtyard at the back and a lean-to with furniture. The entrance opens straight onto a road, and outdoor space is limited, so think about that before bringing a dog, although the recreation ground is across the road. One well-behaved pet is welcome and a charge applies. Confirm the pet policy when booking. Roadside spaces for two medium-sized cars are on the lane outside, and bollards are provided to reserve them.

The nearest shop is 0.2 miles away and the pub 0.1 miles. Smoking is not allowed. It suits a couple or small family who like a compact, characterful house close to the village.
