Woodedge

Woodedge is a mid-terrace cottage in the wooded Hawkcombe valley, half a mile from the village of Porlock and inside Exmoor National Park. The shop and pub are both about half a mile away, the beach is 1.3 miles and the river 1.5 miles.

The front door is a stable door that opens straight into one open-plan room holding the kitchen, a folding dining table with seating for three and a sitting area with a small woodburning stove and a Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a kettle and a toaster. A wrought iron spiral staircase leads up to the two bedrooms, a double and a single, which share a shower room with a walk-in shower and underfloor heating. Because of the spiral staircase, think about whether everyone in your party is comfortable on it before booking.

Across a footbridge over a stream is the enclosed garden, which has furniture. Parking is in a shared layby directly outside, usually with room for six or seven cars, and it is free of charge. A small enclosed public play area sits opposite. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and smoking is not allowed.

Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent, WiFi is provided, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

It suits a couple or a small family with one child, ideally with a dog or two, who want a quiet base for walking on Exmoor.
