Lilac Cottage

Lilac Cottage is a detached house in Wookey Hole, a village near Wells. It sits in its own landscaped grounds with fields of cows and sheep around it, so livestock is part of the outlook. The garden has a drop down to the patio beneath it, which is worth knowing if small children are coming.

The ground floor is one open-plan space for cooking, eating and sitting, with a woodburner and a basket of logs and firelighters supplied. There are two bedrooms, each with a super-king-size bed made of two zipped and linked mattresses, and either can be set up as twins on request. One bedroom has a freestanding bath plus a separate WC and basin. The wet room has a walk-in shower, a basin and a WC.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Fibre optic WiFi and a Smart TV are provided, and guests with their own streaming accounts should log out before leaving. Heating is electric central heating, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all in the rent. A welcome pack with Somerset bread, butter and Wookey Hole mature Cheddar is waiting on arrival.

Outside, an enclosed patio and lawned garden have furniture, and the drive has off-road parking for four cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome; ask first if you have a second, as the owner may agree subject to a supplement. Smoking is not allowed, and a Good Housekeeping bond is payable. The pub is half a mile away and the nearest shop is two miles.

It suits two couples or a small family who want a woodburner and a garden for a dog.
