Fox Cottage At Bigmoor

Fox Cottage is one of two adjoining cottages at Bigmoor in Withypool, in Exmoor National Park. A shop and a pub are within walking distance. Guests who book both cottages can have the secure gate between them unlocked.

The hallway leads to a lounge with a wood burner (a welcome basket of logs is provided in the winter) and a TV with a standard Sky package. The kitchen has an electric oven, a ceramic hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge with a freezer compartment. A washing machine and dryer sit in the former tack room and are shared with the neighbouring cottage. An air source heat pump supplies heating and hot water, and the water supply is private. Starlink gives a fast internet connection.

The bedrooms are up an original staircase that is very steep and narrow. It may not suit young children, elderly guests or anyone with restricted or limited mobility. At the top are a king-size bedroom with a dressing area and countryside views, a single room and the shower room.

Outside is a fully enclosed garden with furniture and a charcoal barbecue, and ample off-road parking. Up to three dogs are welcome upstairs, as long as guests bring their own bedding for the bedrooms (sheets, duvet and cover, pillows and cases) and agree it with the owners before arrival. Additional charges may apply. Check-in is from 17:30. It suits two guests who are comfortable on steep stairs.
