Acorn Cottage

Acorn Cottage stands in the middle of Montacute, among Grade II listed houses built in Hamstone, and is not far from Yeovil. It sleeps two. The single king-size bedroom is upstairs and holds a free-standing copper bath, and the en-suite shower room has a large rainfall shower.

The kitchen has an electric hob and oven, a microwave, a fridge, a dishwasher, a Nespresso machine, an air fryer and a washer/dryer. There is a welcome pack. The lounge has a Smart TV and a wood burner, with the first basket of logs provided.

Outside there is a fully enclosed garden with a Weber kettle barbecue, a table and chairs. Parking is free, in the village square directly in front of the cottage, and is subject to availability. A shop, two pubs and the National Trust's Montacute House and gardens are within 450 metres. An EV charger is in the National Trust car park, so check its requirements and opening times first.

One dog is allowed, and additional charges may apply. Babes in arms are welcome, but a travel cot and a high chair are not supplied. Arrival is from 15:00 and departure before 10:00. The house rules add a cleaning charge if a rule about upstairs is broken, but the wording leaves out what it covers. Expect it to mean the dog, and confirm with the owner when you book.

It suits a couple who want a village base on foot from the pub and the shop, with or without one dog.
