Townsend Cottage

Townsend Cottage is in the village of Rode, near Frome, opposite the village school, and sleeps two. A stable-style front door opens into the living room, where a wood-burning stove stands and a TV and DVD player are provided. The kitchen and dining room has a farmhouse-style gas range cooker, a fridge with an ice box, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.

Upstairs is a king-size bedroom, and at the end of the hall a shower room with a double-size shower, a hand basin and a WC. Beams are low: in the kitchen the ceiling is 190 cm, dropping to 172 cm under the beam, and in the lounge it is 194 cm, dropping to 181 cm. A travel cot and high chair are available. Wi-Fi is included, though mobile signal in the village can be patchy.

An enclosed garden at the front has a table and chairs. Parking is on the street, subject to availability. Restaurants, pubs and shops are half a mile away, and a village peacock can be heard, mostly in spring and summer.

Two dogs are allowed, with additional charges possible. It suits a couple, with or without a dog, who are happy to park on the road and watch their heads on the beams.
