The Studio At Dower House Cottage

The Studio at Dower House Cottage is a converted artist's studio in Butleigh, near Compton Dundon. It stands in the grounds of the owners' home, and Glastonbury is 4 miles one way and Somerton 5 the other. The village shop is half a mile off, a pub 1.8 miles and further shops 3.5 miles.

Everything is on one level. An open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area sits under a vaulted ceiling, with French doors to the patio, and a Smart TV with Netflix. The kitchen has an electric oven, an induction hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge with an ice compartment. A washing machine is in the plant room for the air source heat pump, which also powers the underfloor heating throughout. The bedroom has a king-size bed and the en-suite shower room has a rainfall shower and a WC.

The private patio has seating and looks out on an orchard that guests can walk through. A bridge crosses a stream there and leads to a network of footpaths. Because of the stream, toddlers are not accepted, though babes in arms are welcome. A highchair is available and guests may bring their own travel cot. Parking is off-road for one car.

Dogs are not allowed. Arrival is from 4pm and departure is before 10am. It suits a couple who want a quiet studio between Glastonbury and Somerton, and a footpath from the garden.
