96 Chapel Lane

96 Chapel Lane is a self-contained cottage annex in the village of Butleigh, which sits near Compton Dundon. The building dates back around 160 years, and the decoration runs to green and cream tones with a few vintage touches. A piano is provided, and there are books from the owner's library and a collection of DVDs.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a kettle and a toaster, and there is a living and dining room with a TV. The only bedroom is upstairs, up a narrow staircase, with a double bed, and the shower room has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. Central heating and WiFi are in place, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are in the rent. A welcome pack with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and chocolates is left for arrival.

Outside is a small garden area, a patio with a table and chairs that is not enclosed. Off-road parking is for one car. The shop is 0.4 miles away, with a farm shop and cafe a short stroll off, and the pub is 1.9 miles. The Butleigh Village Heritage Trail starts close by, and walking guides can be borrowed.

Because of the staircase, the property may not suit elderly or infirm guests, or children. No pets and no smoking are allowed, and a good housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a couple who want a village base with walks from the door and are fine with stairs to bed.
