Chestnut Lodge

The bath at Chestnut Lodge stands in the bedroom itself: a freestanding one, in the same room as the king-size bed. Beyond it is an en-suite with a walk-in shower, double sinks and a WC. This is the only bedroom, so the lodge sleeps two, and it suits a couple looking for a bath and a hot tub of their own.

Chestnut Lodge is part of the New Oaks Farm Lodges development, on a working farm at Keinton Mandeville, near Somerton, with the village of Compton Dundon nearby. French doors from the lounge open onto the patio, and the galley-style kitchen has an electric oven, a gas hob, a fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher. TVs with DVD players are in the lounge and the bedroom, and a Bluetooth sound system plays in the living space. Wi-Fi is available but may be slow for streaming or online gaming.

The garden is enclosed and holds the patio, garden furniture and a private hot tub. Charcoal BBQ hire is available. Two cars park next to the lodge, with more by request, and electric car charging is available for an extra charge. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged for an extra charge, subject to availability.

Shop and pub are both 0.5 miles away, and a takeaway is 5.5 miles. Wells is 15 miles off, Wookey Hole Caves 17 miles, and Wheathill Golf Club 2 miles. The farm sells produce, takes pre-booked homemade meals for two, and runs tours on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, subject to availability; its small leisure pool is open for private hire, Swim Fit sessions and tuition as optional extras.

Dogs are not allowed and smoking is not permitted in the lodge. A refundable security deposit is payable on arrival.
