The Shippen

The Shippen is a log cabin on the outskirts of Merriott, a historic village set around three roads and a large area of farmland. It is two miles from Crewkerne, where there is a Waitrose supermarket and the railway station on the London Waterloo to Exeter line, and five minutes by car from Ham Hill Country Park.

Everything is on one floor. The open-plan sitting, kitchen and dining area has a Smart TV with Freeview and a DVD player, a selection of books, games and DVDs, and WiFi, and the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge. The cabin has electric central heating. There is one bathroom, with a bath and a shower over it. One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other has a double with an overhead single. The cabin sleeps 4.

Outside, the enclosed garden has furniture and a barbecue. Parking is off-road, and a cot and a highchair are available. Fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent. Pets and smoking are not allowed. A shop is 1 mile away and a pub a ten-minute walk.

It suits two couples or a small family who want a single-level cabin, and who are happy to drive to the shops. The village has footpaths and bridle paths on the doorstep.
