The Cygnet

The Cygnet is a semi-detached stable conversion on the main road through Haselbury Plucknett, a South Somerset village about two miles from Crewkerne. The building is thought to date from the 18th century and once stabled horses for the neighbouring former Swan Inn, now the owner's home. Later it was used to make beer barrels.

Inside, the sitting room has a woodburner and a stable door that opens onto the private patio, which has its own furniture. Fuel, power and a starter pack for the woodburner come with the rent, and the heating is electric. There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, and one bathroom with a bath, a shower over it, a basin and a WC. The fitted kitchen has a dining area, an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.

A TV with Freeview, WiFi, a CD player and radio, and a selection of books and games are provided, and bed linen and towels are included. A travel cot can be requested. Two cars fit in the off-road parking and there is undercover bike storage. The village pub is a five-minute walk and the nearest shop is 15 minutes away on foot.

Pets and smoking are not allowed. With a double and a twin room it suits a couple, or a small family with a baby, wanting a compact base close to the Dorset border.
