The Roost - Lower Chillington

The Roost is a three-bedroom conversion in Lower Chillington, a hamlet near Ilminster, and it sleeps six. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and there is a separate shower room with WC. The king-size en-suite is built into the eaves and the double bedroom also has low sloping ceilings, something to know if you are tall.

Downstairs, the kitchen and diner share an open-plan space with the lounge. The kitchen has a range electric oven and hob, a fridge, a further large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a Krups coffee machine, and French doors lead to the patio. A utility room holds a washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave, and there is a ground-floor WC. The lounge has a wood burner, with the first basket of logs included, and a Smart TV with DVD. Wi-Fi is available, and a travel cot and highchair can be provided.

The courtyard garden has a patio, garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue, with a further seating area beyond it. Guests are also welcome in the owner's half-acre secured garden, which has a wildlife pond, and in the adjoining enclosed orchard and paddocks. A secure field lets a dog off the lead. Walls and fenced hedging enclose the whole property, and the main gate can be closed on arrival. Table tennis is available if you ask the owner. Off-road parking beside the cottage takes three cars.

One dog is welcome, with additional charges, and dogs must be kept downstairs. The nearest farm shop and pub are both 1.5 miles away, and the shop is 3.5 miles. Arrival is from 4pm and departure before 10am. It suits a family or a group of friends who want a secure outdoor space for one dog.
