Foxglove

Foxglove stands at Higher Wambrook, where it is one of a pair of lodges, 2.1 miles from Chard. For a wider trip, Ilminster is another market town in this part of Somerset. The grounds hold woodland, and there is a small lake on site, so adults need to keep children in sight at all times.

Foxglove has two bedrooms on a single level. One holds a double bed with an en-suite shower room; the other is a twin with an en-suite walk-in shower. A cot and a highchair are available for little ones. Living space is open plan, with a sitting area built around a wood burning stove, a dining table, and a shaker-style kitchen with an induction hob, electric oven, microwave, a fridge with an icebox and a dishwasher.

The hot tub sits on a private terrace, and the south-facing grounds, which are not enclosed, offer lawn, a patch of woodland and communal seating. Guests may also use the communal wood-fired pizza oven. Fuel and power are included, with a starter pack for the stove; extra boxes of wood can be bought on site. Two cars can be parked off the road. Pets are not allowed and the lodge is no smoking. A Good Housekeeping bond is payable.

From 19 January to 19 February the minimum stay is two nights. Foxglove can be combined with Primrose, the other lodge on the site, to give an eight-person stay.

It suits a family of four with a young child who want a hot tub at the end of the day.
