The Mount

The Mount is a detached Victorian house on the hill above Dulverton, at the end of a lane and up a steep drive. It spreads over three storeys, and the five bedrooms are reached by stairs, so it sleeps ten guests. Three are doubles, two of them king-size with en suite shower rooms, and two are twins. A bathroom has a roll-top bath with a shower over, and there is a WC with basin on the ground floor.

A hall on the ground floor leads to two sitting rooms, both with open fires and wood-burning stoves, the first with a chaise longue and a marble fireplace. An arch connects the second to the dining room, and the kitchen has an old-fashioned pantry. There is also a study with a desk. The games room on the lower ground floor has a Wii, table tennis and table football, and the utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. A dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer, TV with DVD and WiFi complete the list.

Beyond the parking area for six cars is a lawned garden with a table and chairs, and two of the double bedrooms look over the town. Water comes from a private supply that is tested regularly. Pets are not allowed and the house is non-smoking. Check-in is from 4pm. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. A cot and highchair are available on request.

It suits an extended family or two groups of friends who want a games room and several sitting rooms, and who can manage the steep drive.
