The Coal House at Mendip View

The Coal House at Mendip View is an all-ground-floor cottage in the village of Wedmore, with views backed by the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It sleeps 2: the single king-size bedroom has a TV and an en-suite shower room, and the living and dining room has two sofas and a TV with Freeview, next to a kitchen with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

Heating is by oil central heating with underfloor heating. Off-road parking for one car comes with an EV charger, and there is an enclosed gravelled patio with furniture for evenings outside. WiFi is provided, and fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent. Walkers can head out into the Mendip Hills, the Polden Hills and the Somerset levels.

The check-in day is Saturday unless agreed otherwise with the owner. Pets and smoking are not allowed. A shop is 0.3 miles away and a pub 0.1 miles, so an evening meal does not need the car.

Cheddar Gorge and its caves are a scenic drive away, and Burnham-on-Sea is a day trip for its long sandy beach. It suits a couple who want a compact base on one level, with a charging point for an electric car and walks up into the Mendips.
