The Cider House

The Cider House is a converted cider barn at West Buckland, near Wellington, approached through grounds beside the owners' 16th-century thatched farmhouse. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, both upstairs: a double with a flatscreen TV and a Jack and Jill en-suite with a shower over the bath, and a twin with 3ft 6in beds and a cot if needed. A shower room with a WC is on the ground floor.

You come in from the gravelled parking area, which holds two cars with one space undercover, straight into a large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has a double oven and ceramic hob, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer and a Nespresso machine. The lounge has patio doors, an electric wood-burner-effect fire, a Smart TV and DVD player, and various books, toys and games. Please note the property has low beams.

Outside, the elevated patio has a barbecue, a dining table with chairs and sun loungers, and looks over the surrounding countryside. A gate from the garden leads to the duck and geese enclosure with a pond. Charcoal for the barbecue is available locally. The nearest pub is 2.5 miles away.

Dogs are not allowed. Check-in is from 15:30 and check-out is before 10:00. It suits a family of four with young children who can use the cot and the enclosed garden, or two couples who want a second bathroom and a quiet farm setting.
