Summerdown

Summerdown is a modern single-storey lodge on the Brean Country Club site in Brean, beside a lake. Guests reach the entrance by climbing a handful of steps onto wraparound decking with furniture, which catches the sun for much of the day.

Inside is an open-plan living area with a corner sofa, a wall-mounted TV and French doors to the decking. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, Nespresso machine, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a wine chiller. There are three TVs with Netflix, WiFi, gas central heating, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels in the rent. A highchair and travel cot can be requested.

The king-size bedroom has a TV, an en-suite with a walk-in shower and an adjoining dressing room. The twin has a TV as well, and the family bathroom has a bath with a shower over and a heated towel rail.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome; bring your own bowls, blankets and covers for the furniture. Parking is off-road for two cars. Smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. One-night bookings are not accepted and check-in cannot start on a Sunday. The shop and beach are each 0.3 miles away and the pub 0.1 miles. It suits a family of four or two couples who want a beach within walking distance and a dog-friendly lodge.
