Pittards Farm Cottage

Pittards Farm Cottage is a detached former stable block in East Lambrook, about a mile from South Petherton. A couple of steps from the drive lead through arched doors into a kitchen with a flagstone floor and a breakfast table. The dining room, also flagstoned, can double as a study, and ready meals are available if you would rather not cook or go to the village pub, which is less than 300 yards away.

The sitting room has an oak floor and a Knole sofa. Stairs lead up to the only bedroom, a king-size double, and to a bathroom with a roll-top bath, a shower, a basin and a WC. The kitchen includes a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a washer-dryer and a dishwasher, and there are a TV with a DVD player and WiFi. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power come with the rent. A good-housekeeping bond is payable.

Outside, guests have a sitting-out area in the garden of the owners' old thatched farmhouse and the use of an orchard with a picnic table. A horse occasionally passes the drive. Parking is off-road for one car.

Adults only are accepted: children are not allowed, except babes in arms. No pets and no smoking are permitted.

It suits a couple who want a quiet, one-bedroom base within walking distance of a pub.
