Pippins

Two guests and one well-behaved pet is the whole brief at Pippins, a single-storey studio cabin in a fruit orchard on a working farm near the village of Williton. The open-plan room holds a small double bed, a kitchen area, a dining area and a sofa beside a woodburning stove. A few steps lead up to the entrance.

Heat comes from the stove, with fuel and a starter pack of logs, firelighters, matches and kindling in the rent, and from electric underfloor heating under the wooden floor; the owners sell refills. Cooking is on a two-ring electric hob with a microwave and a fridge with an ice-box. The shower room has a walk-in shower, a heated towel rail, a basin and a WC. A Smart TV and WiFi are provided, and bed linen and towels are included.

On the lawn are furniture, a picnic bench and a log-fired pizza oven, and the owners sell a box of logs for it. Horses and ponies live on the farm, and riding lessons can be booked before arrival, subject to availability. Parking is off the road, for one car. The shop is 0.8 miles away and the pub 0.4 miles, and footpaths from the farm lead to the Coleridge Way and the South West Coast Path.

Smoking is not allowed, nobody can arrive or depart on a Saturday, and a good housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a couple travelling with one pet who want a stove-heated evening in a quiet orchard.
