Damsons

Damsons is a timber-clad cabin in a fruit orchard on a working farm at the edge of Williton. It is a single-storey studio: kitchen, dining area and sitting area share one open room, with the sofa facing a woodburning stove and a king-size bed in the same room. There are steps up to the entrance, so think about whether that works for everyone in your party.

The shower room has a walk-in shower, a basin, a heated towel rail and a WC, and electric underfloor heating runs under the wooden floor. The kitchen has a two-ring electric hob, a microwave and a fridge with an ice-box. A Smart TV and WiFi are provided. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all in the rent, along with a starter box of logs, firelighters, matches and kindling for your first fire.

Outside there is a front lawn with a picnic bench and a log-fired pizza oven, and the owners sell a box of logs for it. Portable barbecues are not allowed, for fire safety. Guests can wander the farm grounds, pass the stables and meet the horses and ponies, and riding lessons can be arranged before arrival, subject to availability. Off-road parking is for one car.

The shop is 0.8 miles away and the nearest pub 0.4 miles, and Williton has pubs, coffee shops and a fish and chip shop within an easy stroll. Footpaths leave from the farm towards the Coleridge Way and the South West Coast Path, and Exmoor National Park is the draw for walkers. Pets and smoking are not allowed, nobody can arrive or leave on a Saturday, and a good housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a couple who want a woodburner and a pizza oven and are content with one open room.
