Owl Lodge

Owl Lodge looks across the Somerset levels to Glastonbury Tor from a spot a mile outside Wedmore. It is one of four identical lodges and is let to family bookings only. Beyond the garden fence live Percy, Albert and Jeffrey the alpacas and the miniature horses Minnie and Dottie, and the owners keep a Sea Harrier jump jet that guests can sit in.

The lodge sleeps 6 over three bedrooms. A king-size room with an en-suite shower is upstairs, while a second king-size room and a children's bunk room are downstairs and share a ground-floor shower room. Adults take the two king-size rooms, and the bunks are for children.

Bi-folding doors let light into the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area, which has underfloor heating, a Smart TV with Freeview and WiFi. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. A patio with furniture holds a private hot tub, and a travel cot and highchair are available.

The way in is through the owner's quiet camp field. Off-road parking takes 2 cars, and a new fast-charging electric car port at the property is paid for through an app. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am. Fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. Pets and smoking are not allowed. The nearest shop is 2 miles away and a pub 1.4 miles, so this suits a family of up to six with a car who want a hot tub and open country.
