Lucy

Lucy is a shepherd's hut in its own paddock at Churchstanton, in the Blackdown Hills near Taunton, not far from Wellington. It is run as a couples retreat for two, with a double bed set in front of a window on one side and the kitchenette on the other. A wood burner heats the hut, and the bathroom has a rainfall shower and WC.

The kitchenette has an induction two-ring hob and a fridge with a freezer compartment, and a table with two chairs fits beside it. The first basket of logs for the wood burner is supplied. There is no TV and no Wi-Fi, although a mobile signal and 4G are available.

Outside you have an enclosed garden with seating, a fire pit and a wood-fired hot tub, with an initial supply of logs included. Bathrobes and blankets are provided so you can keep warm outdoors. Bikes are available for guests to borrow. Private parking takes two cars. The village of Churchinford has a shop and pub, about a mile away.

No babies or children are accepted, and no dogs are allowed. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is before 10:00. It suits a couple who want a night-time hot tub and a screen-free few days.
