Hawthorn

Parking comes first at Hawthorn, because it is not beside the lodge: two off-road spaces are available about 100 metres away, and unloading is possible outside. The lodge itself is bespoke-built for two guests at Drayton, a short way from Langport.

It is one of eight similar properties spaced out on shared grassland, with CCTV over the exterior of the lodge and the surrounding areas. You enter under an open covered veranda at the front, and the bedroom doors open onto a second veranda.

In the living space are a sofa, a wood burner (the first basket of logs is included) and a Smart TV. At the rear of the room the one-wall kitchen has a two-ring electric hob, a combi microwave oven and a fridge, and a dining area sits opposite. A hallway leads to the king-size bedroom and the shower room with WC. Wi-Fi is available. A sofa bed in the lounge can be requested for two adults, though the lodge remains a booking for two.

Private decking with outdoor furniture looks over the countryside at the back. The pub and shop are within 1 mile, and the beach is 17 miles away. Dogs are not allowed. Arrival is from 3pm and departure before 10am. It suits a couple who want a wood burner and a covered veranda.
