Cider House - Longlands Farm

The Cider House is a converted building on a nine-acre small holding at Norton Fitzwarren, a village near Taunton, which is 4.5 miles away. Guests are welcome to watch the lambing and bottle-feed orphaned lambs in spring, feed the chickens, and try apple pressing in autumn, all by arrangement with the owner. Fresh eggs from the site are available, and the welcome pack holds a home-grown vegetable box.

A stable door leads down two steps into the hall. Three steps up lead to the open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, which has an exposed beam and a Smart TV. The kitchen has an induction hob, an electric oven, a fridge with an ice compartment and a dishwasher, and a utility cupboard holds a microwave and a washing machine. Upstairs are two bedrooms under apex ceilings, each with a Smart TV. One has a king-size bed, and the other a king-size zip-and-link that can be made into a twin on request. The family shower room has a shower and WC. A travel cot and a highchair are available.

The enclosed garden has countryside views, a patio, a charcoal BBQ, a fire pit and outdoor seating. For dogs there is an outside hose for muddy paws and a paddock, though sheep are occasionally in it and dogs then need a lead. Stays of five days or more can include a complimentary session in the owners' on-site dog park. Private parking takes two cars, and EV charging on site costs extra and is paid through an app. Shops are 4.5 miles away and the nearest pub two miles.

Four dogs are allowed, and extra charges may apply. Arrival is from 15:30 and departure before 10:00. It suits a family of four, or two couples, who want an enclosed garden and plenty of room for dogs.
