The way in to Westbank, a stone cottage in Wookey Hole near Wookey, is uphill: 9 steps lead up to the row of cottages and 3 more to the cottage itself. Parking is on the road nearby rather than at the door, and the staircase inside is curved at the top.

Downstairs, the lounge has an open fire, with the first bucket of coal and logs provided, and a Smart TV. A separate snug has its own TV and a games console. The kitchen holds an integrated oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher, a wine cooler, a washing machine and a Nespresso machine. Electricity, heating and Wi-Fi are all included.

Up the stairs are the king-size bedroom, with an en-suite shower room, and the twin bedroom next to it, each with its own TV. The family bathroom has a full-size bath, a separate shower cubicle and underfloor heating. The cottage sleeps four.

Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. A highchair and a travel cot are available on request. A pub is down the road, and the nearest shop is 1.5 miles away in Wells. Arrival is from 15:30 and departure is before 10:00.

It suits a family or two couples, with up to two dogs, who can manage the steps and the curved staircase.
