The Old Stables

The Old Stables is a former stable block at Court Farm in Exford, within Exmoor National Park. A bridleway passes the door, so the moor and the village are both reachable without using a road, and the shop and pubs are about five minutes along a riverside path.

The sitting room has an L-shaped sofa and a woodburner, with fuel and a starter pack included. Bi-fold doors from the kitchen open onto a rear courtyard with a picnic table and barbecue, and there is a utility room for coats and boots. Appliances include an electric oven and hob, a combination oven/microwave, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a tumble dryer, plus a TV and WiFi.

Four bedrooms take eight guests: three super king-size beds that can be zipped or linked or set up as twins on request, and a twin room. One super king is on the ground floor with a walk-in shower en suite, another has an en suite with bath and shower, and a separate shower room and a WC cloakroom complete the layout. The front lawn is enclosed and looks to the river.

Strictly one well-behaved dog is welcome. Six cars can park off the road, oil central heating is on, and bed linen and towels are included. The house is non-smoking, check-in is from 5pm, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits two or three families, or a group of friends, who want walking and riding straight from the door.
