The Barn

The Barn is a single-storey conversion on a working farm at Merridge, near the village of Spaxton in the Quantock Hills. North Petherton is also nearby. The house sleeps two, with one king-size bedroom.

Beams run across the ceiling of the open-plan room, which combines a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. The house has underfloor heating and a log burner. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. The bedroom has its own TV, a sitting area and a woodburning stove, and the log burner fuel, power and starter pack are included in the rent along with bed linen and towels. There is WiFi, and books are provided.

The bathroom has a freestanding bath, a handheld shower, a basin, a heated towel rail and a WC. Note that there are steps down into it, so take care. A Good Housekeeping bond is payable.

Outside is an enclosed garden with a patio, lawn and furniture, and parking is private and off the road. One well-behaved pet is welcome, but because the farm is a working one, it must stay on a lead whenever it is outdoors. No smoking is allowed. The nearest shop is 2 miles away, the pub 2.5 miles and a lake 1.5 miles.

It suits a couple, or one person with a pet, who want a quiet farm setting.
