Barton Cottage

Barton Cottage sits on the owner's farm in West Monkton, near North Petherton, between the Quantock Hills and the Blackdown Hills. It sleeps two. The front door opens straight into one open room that combines lounge, dining table and kitchen, with leather sofas, a Smart TV and a wood burner set in a large feature fireplace. A first basket of logs is supplied.

The kitchen end has an oven, hob, microwave, a Nespresso-compatible coffee machine and a fridge with an ice compartment. Laundry is not in the cottage itself: a shared laundry room has a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Steep cottage-style stairs lead up to the single bedroom, which has a king-size bed, a wardrobe and an apex ceiling. The bathroom upstairs has a roll-top bath, a separate shower and a WC. A travel cot and a highchair can be requested.

Outside, a fully enclosed garden has seating, a charcoal BBQ and covered areas where you can sit out whatever the weather. Off-road parking takes two cars. The pub and shop are 2 miles away and the beach is 15 miles away.

Up to two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. Check-in is from 4.30pm and departure is before 10am. It suits a couple with a dog who want an enclosed garden and a fire in the evening, though the steep stairs to the bedroom are worth knowing about before you book.
