The Barn at Rapps Cottage

The Barn at Rapps Cottage stands in the grounds of a 15th-century grade II listed long house at Rapps, near Ilminster. The conversion keeps its original beams and thatched roof, and everything is on one floor: an open-plan room holds the kitchen, a dining area and a sofa, with oak furniture.

There is one bedroom with a super-king-size bed, which can be split into two singles if you ask beforehand. The shower room has a walk-in shower, though you step over to get in. Cooking is done on an electric hob with a combi microwave/oven, and there is a fridge and freezer, Denby crockery, a smart TV with DVD player and sound bar, WiFi, and a selection of books and games. Fuel, power, Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are included in the rent. A wash-only laundry service is available for a fee, arranged with the owner.

Outside is a patio garden with furniture, and guests can also use the larger country garden by the pond. Parking is off the road, but the drive is gravel and about 20ft separates the parking space from the front door. The nearest pub is 1.9 miles away and the nearest shop 2 miles, and secure storage for two bikes is provided.

Children are not accepted, pets are not allowed and smoking is not permitted.

It suits a couple after a quiet rural break who are happy to drive for supplies.
