Suffolk, Southcroft Farm

The Strawberry Line walking and cycling route runs beside Suffolk, a timber pod on Southcroft Farm in Cross, near Axbridge and Shipham, and footpaths lead from the site into the Mendip Hills. Cheddar Gorge is 3.5 miles away.

The pod is a single open-plan room. French doors open from the dining table, the compact kitchen has an induction two-ring hob and a combi-oven/microwave, and there is a Smart TV and a double bed. The shower room, with a WC, is en suite.

Outside, a private seating area has garden furniture and a fire pit with logs supplied for the first fire, and the hot tub is private. The grass beside the pod is shared, along with a stone-built charcoal barbecue. Parking is private, for one car.

Dogs are welcome, one per booking, with extra charges possible, and the shared grassy area is where one can burn off energy. A horse can come too: discuss it at booking, and note that shelter and grazing are provided at an additional cost paid direct to the owner. Suffolk sleeps two, so it suits a couple who want a hot tub and a dog beside them. The pub is 350 metres away, the shop a mile off and the beach 13 miles. Arrival is from 3pm and departure before 10am.
