Mendip Cottage

Mendip Cottage is the one-bedroom home among four stable conversions that share ten acres near the village of Shipham. It has its own enclosed, landscaped garden with seating areas and patio furniture, and the private seating area looks out towards Weston-super-Mare. Horses graze nearby, and you may see them being exercised in the riding arena.

Everything is on the ground floor. A king-size bedroom and a wet room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC sit alongside an open-plan room that combines the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an electric fire. The cottage sleeps two, and oil central heating runs alongside the fire.

Dogs are welcome, though the number allowed isn't stated, so confirm it when booking. An enclosed grass paddock gives them room to run, with walks and footpaths beyond. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge, a dishwasher and a washing machine, and a Smart TV with free Netflix and WiFi are provided. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included in the rent, and a travel cot and a highchair can be requested.

Bookings need to start on a Friday, and check-in on a Saturday is not accepted. Parking is off the road for one car, the pub is 0.2 miles away and the shop 0.4 miles. There is no smoking, and a good housekeeping bond is payable. Booked together with the three other homes on the site, the party can number 14.

It suits a couple who want a one-floor stay with a private garden, with a dog if they like.
