Stonecutter's Cottage

Stonecutter's Cottage, also known as 59 Ham Hill, is a Grade II listed terraced house in an elevated position near Stoke-sub-Hamdon, a village near South Petherton. The street was home to stone cutters who worked the Ham Stone quarry in the Georgian and Victorian eras. The house is reached by walking up a few stone steps, and its staircases are narrow, so it may not suit anyone with mobility issues.

The ground floor has an open-plan lounge and dining area with a decorative fireplace and the kitchen behind. Stairs lead up to a double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower over the bath, and on to the top floor, where the second double bedroom is. There is also a cloakroom. The kitchen has an electric oven, grill and hob, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a fridge and a freezer. WiFi and a Smart TV are included, as are bed linen, towels, fuel and power, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

A pretty front garden has a lawn, and there is a rear garden for children or dogs. The exit to the outhouse and back garden is shared with the neighbouring property. The allocated parking space is for one car, opposite the cottage. The shop and pub are 0.3 miles away. Children are welcome. Dogs are accepted, one large or two small, and smoking is not allowed.

The cottage can be booked together with Scrambles Cottage for a party of up to eight, when both are available.

It suits two couples, or a family of four who are comfortable with narrow stairs.
