Shepherds Linhay

Shepherds Linhay is reached up a private lane on a 550-acre working farm in North Petherton, near Taunton. The detached barn is clad in cedar and looks across the Somerset Levels from the edge of the Quantock Hills, with walks starting from the property.

The single-storey barn has one open room for the lounge, kitchen and dining area, with sliding doors onto the decking. The dining table was made from an oak that came down in a storm on the farm. The kitchen has an electric oven and induction hob, a fridge with an ice compartment, a dishwasher and a microwave. There is a wood burner, a Smart TV, Wi-Fi and underfloor heating throughout. Logs are extra after the first bag.

The king-size bedroom has a window that juts out to make a seat, and an en-suite shower room with a WC. Children are not accepted, though babes in arms are welcome. The garden is enclosed, with decking, a covered seating area, outdoor seating, a barbecue and a wood-fired hot tub. A locked store is available for bicycles.

Parking is ample and off-road. Electric cars can be charged at the owner's property, roughly 100 metres from the barn, for a fee, with timings agreed with the owner. Two dogs are welcome and additional charges may apply. The pub and shop are within walking distance. The owner also lets Shepherds Croft, which sleeps two. The barn suits a couple who want a farm setting and a hot tub. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure is before 10:00.
