Old Holcombe Linhay

Six external stone steps lead up to the door of Old Holcombe Linhay, a single-storey barn conversion on a working farm at Wiveliscombe, and they may be hard going for anyone with limited mobility. It is one of four properties on the farm and sleeps two. Wiveliscombe is near Washford.

The open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area has a Smart TV, a DVD player and a wood burner, and the first basket of logs is included. The owner can lend a PlayStation 4 on request. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge/freezer. A washing machine and clothes airer are in a utility room shared with the other properties here. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite shower and WC.

The patio is enclosed and has seating, and it faces west. A barbecue and a selection of outdoor games can be had on request. Guests can share 6 acres of land that cows and sheep use, though children should be watched near the nearby pond. A travel cot and a highchair are available. Wi-Fi is included, though speeds may vary because of the rural location. Parking is off-road for two cars.

The beach is 5 miles from the barn, the pub 1 mile and the shop 2 miles. Two dogs are allowed and extra charges may apply, and the owners may accept a third with prior approval before booking. There is a dog washing area for muddy paws, with extra dog towels by arrangement, and a 3.5-acre paddock that is open to dogs when it is free of sheep. A telescope can be hired separately, as it is a dark skies area.

It suits a couple with one or two dogs who are comfortable with the steps.
