Nethercote Byre

Nethercote Byre is a converted U-shaped barn near Winsford on Exmoor, and Withypool is a nearby Exmoor village. The generous open living room has a wood-burning stove, and two sets of sliding doors lead to the courtyard. A second sitting room doubles as a playroom, with table football and a jigsaw table.

There are four bedrooms: a super king-size and three twins, placed at both ends of the building. Eight people can sleep here, and a travel cot is available on request on top of that. Two bathrooms serve the house, with a bath and a hand-held shower between them. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher, and there is a highchair on request, a TV with DVD player and fibre broadband.

The courtyard garden is enclosed, and guests may walk on the owner's surrounding land. Off-road parking takes three cars. The nearest shop is 1.9 miles away and the nearest pub 1.8 miles.

The approach matters: the house is reached over 1¾ miles of rough hardcore track, which has been upgraded and is usable by all vehicles. Keep speed down for cattle, sheep and walkers. The water supply is private and tested regularly. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, smoking is not allowed, and a good housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a group or extended family of up to eight who want quiet and room for dogs.
