Magpie Cottage

Magpie Cottage is a single-storey, detached former stone barn on the edge of South Brewham, near Wincanton. It stands in the grounds of the owner's working farm and farmhouse, and the barn is believed to date from the early 1800s. Bruton is 3 miles away and Frome 9.

There is one bedroom, a super king-size with an en-suite bath, shower over, basin and WC. A kitchen, a utility lobby, and a sitting room with a dining area and a gas fire complete the layout, with LPG central heating behind it. The kitchen has an electric oven and halogen hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer and a washing machine, and there are two TVs, a DVD player, a CD player, an iPod dock, books and games. WiFi can be intermittent. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and a travel cot and highchair are available on request.

Outside, the enclosed lawned garden has furniture, and there is off-road parking for 1 car. A car is essential here: the shop is 3 miles away and the pub 1.5 miles.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, though not cats, and it must be kept on a lead because of the livestock. The owner has a dog too. Smoking is not allowed. Stays are limited to 2 weeks at most, back-to-back bookings are not accepted, and check-in is on a Friday.

It suits a couple, or a couple with a dog, who want a quiet rural stay.
