Exmoor Farm Cottages - Stags View

Stags View is one of the Exmoor Farm Cottages, set around the yard of the owner's small farm at Wheddon Cross. From the top gate of the farm, guests can walk up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon.

Because of the streams and ponds on the farm, the cottage is not suitable for babies, infants or children under 16, so all four places are for guests aged 16 or over. You step straight into the lounge, which has a TV and DVD player, a stable door and a wood burner with the first basket of logs included. Two steps lead down to the separate kitchen-diner, with an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge with an ice compartment.

Upstairs are two twin bedrooms, each of which can be made up as a super king-size on request, and one has a small balcony. The shower room with WC is on the same floor. The washing machine is in a shared utility room in a separate building, and the water comes from a borehole.

Outside, an enclosed decked area leads down three steps to a small enclosed garden. Two dogs are allowed, with additional charges that may apply, and a kennel and run sit below the decking steps. Parking is off-road for 2 cars, and the shop and pub are 2 miles away. Changeover is on Monday and Friday only, and on Friday only in September and October. Arrival is from 16:30 and departure before 10:00. It suits two couples or friends walking with dogs.
