Chantry Cottages Pear Tree

Pear Tree forms a wing of a 17th century Somerset longhouse in Rhode, near North Petherton, and keeps its exposed beams throughout. Bridgwater is 2 miles away. The layout is upside down. The ground floor has slate flooring with under-floor heating, a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, and one bathroom with a shower over the bath that the two bedrooms share. The cottage sleeps four.

The living space is on the first floor, so you climb to the open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Exposed ceiling trusses run over the sofas and Smart TV. The kitchen has an integral electric oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a fridge and a microwave. Under the stairs, a storage area holds a washer/dryer and a freezer.

A raised paved patio has garden furniture and a BBQ, which is available subject to weather, so check before you arrive. Guests can also use a one-acre paddock. A garage is available and the off-road parking takes two cars. A pub and shops are 2 miles away, and the beach is 30 minutes away.

Dogs are not allowed. Check-in is from 5pm and departure is before 10am. With two bedrooms on the ground floor and a paddock outside, it suits a family of four who want room to spread out, as long as everyone can manage the stairs up to the living area.
