The Well House Apartment

The Well House Apartment occupies the first floor of a Georgian former rectory on the outskirts of Watchet, down a private lane next to the 13th-century church of St Decuman. It has its own front door and a large entrance hall, and the town is three-quarters of a mile away. The sitting room looks towards Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Brendon Hills, and the garden has views of the West Somerset Steam Railway in the valley below.

Sleeping is for three. The main bedroom has a super king-size double bed and a Freeview TV. The second is a small double room suited to one person, so the apartment fits a couple plus one, or an adult with a child over 5. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and a basin, and there is a separate WC with its own basin. The kitchen is newly fitted, with an electric oven, grill and ceramic hob, a microwave, a freezer, a fridge with freezer compartment and a dishwasher.

The sitting room has a Smart TV, and there are two TVs in all, one with Sky. WiFi covers the whole apartment, gas central heating runs the hot water, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are in the rent. Outside is an enclosed lawned garden with furniture and a gas barbecue. Guests may also ask to use seven acres of land shared with the house. Two cars fit in the off-road parking, with additional private parking close by, and there is secure bike storage.

Pets are not allowed, and smoking is not permitted in the apartment or the grounds. Only children over 5 can stay. The shops, pubs and restaurants of Watchet are a 12-minute walk, and the church bells ring for about five minutes before 10am on some Sundays. The apartment suits a couple or a small group of friends who want a quiet edge-of-town base.
