The Cottage at Castle of Comfort

The Cottage at Castle of Comfort is a detached stone house standing in 4.5 acres, 1.5 miles from Nether Stowey and close to Crowcombe. The Quantock Hills are on the doorstep. Shops and pubs are 1.5 miles away, and the nearest beach is 4 miles off.

Three double bedrooms open off the entrance hall on the ground floor, and one of them has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The family shower room is on the same floor. The fourth bedroom, a twin, is upstairs under the eaves with a low sloping ceiling, beside a snug with a Smart TV and an X-box. A single sofa bed and a fold-up bed can be requested at booking, but the cottage is booked for eight. The kitchen has a central island and a dishwasher, and a utility room holds the washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside, the private garden has a patio, seating and a charcoal barbecue, and a wood-fired hot tub is part of the outdoor space. Bring your own towels for the hot tub and for the pool when it is open. Neither this garden nor the shared lawn behind the cottage is fully enclosed. Guests also share a games barn with a table tennis table, a football table and a basketball game. A large outdoor swimming pool is open from June to the end of September, but only when the larger sister property, Castle of Comfort, has no guests. Up to four cars can park at the property.

Two dogs are welcome, and additional charges may apply. It suits a family or a group of friends travelling together, with three of the four bedrooms on the ground floor.
