High House

High House stands in the middle of Dunster, at the foot of the castle, and sleeps 10 in five bedrooms. Two have four-poster super-king-size beds, two have king-size beds and one has twin zip-and-link beds that can be made up as a super-king-size on request. Two camp beds for children under 8 can be added on request, with an extra linen charge, but the house is booked for 10. Shops, pubs and restaurants are a short walk away, and the beach is 2 miles.

There are five bathrooms: a shower room and WC on the ground floor, a family shower room and two en-suites with roll-top baths on the first floor, and a bathroom with bath, shower and WC on the second. Downstairs the lounge, formal dining room and library each have an open fire, with the first basket of logs included. The Aga kitchen has a table for twelve, the pantry holds a range oven, gas hob and dishwasher, and the utility area has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The snug has a gas fire that imitates a wood burner.

Outside, the walled lawn leads to a hot tub in a private corner, with robes and slippers provided. A patio has a charcoal barbecue and an oak table for twelve under a pergola, and a gate at the end of the lawn opens onto Dunster Deer Park and the castle grounds. Two games rooms hold a pool table, darts and table tennis, and a yoga studio has a bicycle and step machine. Bikes can be stored in the boot room. Off-road parking takes four cars, though the fourth space is small, and there is more parking in the village.

Three dogs are welcome, with additional charges possible. They must stay downstairs and out of the bedrooms, and a dog washer and towels are provided. Travel cots and a high chair are available on request. It suits a large family or a group of friends who want a hot tub, games rooms and dogs along.
