Cathay House

Cathay House is a cottage on a quiet lane in the middle of Cheddar, with a shop 0.1 miles away and a pub 0.2 miles. A footpath nearby climbs to the top of Cheddar Gorge and joins other paths in the area.

The sitting room has two leather sofas, a TV and an electric coal-effect fire, and a sun room at the front gives a second place to sit. There is a dining room, and the kitchen holds an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Two TVs with Freeview, WiFi and gas central heating are included, along with fuel, power, bed linen and towels.

The three bedrooms are a double with an en-suite shower, a twin and a single, and the family bathroom has a roll-top bath. Outside, an enclosed courtyard has seating, and the off-road parking takes three cars, though the access point can be tight. Pets and smoking are not allowed. Bookings over 14 nights are not taken, and any stay over two weeks has to be authorised by the owner. The house is for holiday rentals only; single-sex groups and worker bookings are not accepted. A good housekeeping bond is payable.

It suits a family of up to five who want a walkable village base with their own parking.
