Catharines is a one-bedroom apartment on a quiet Georgian square in Bath, midway between the Circus and the Royal Crescent. It is booked for two guests. The bedroom has a super-king-size bed, a decorative fireplace and large windows over the Georgian terraces climbing towards Sion Hill.

The lounge/diner has a Victorian-era feature fireplace, a chaise longue, a Smart TV and DVD player, and a dining table by the shuttered sash windows. The sofa converts to a sofa bed, with bedding arranged on request. The kitchen has granite worktops, an induction hob and oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge, a freezer and a washing machine/dryer.

This is a second-floor flat reached by three flights of stairs, and a short flight of four steps leads up to the shower room. Anyone with limited mobility should weigh that up. The apartment has an entry phone.

There is no outside space. For fresh air, the Royal Crescent is a 200-metre stroll away, and from there the walk leads on to Royal Victoria Park. The heart of the city is about half a mile off, pubs and shops are within 200 metres, and several car parks lie within 1 mile.

Best for a couple who want a quiet city base and can manage three flights of stairs. No dogs are accepted, check-in opens at 4pm and check-out is by 10am.
